Within conservation easement on Chestnut Woods Association land. Tuscarora cliffs outcrop above this forest. Below the stand, the slope becomes more mesic as it grades into the narrow ravine of Smith Creek.;Dry South - facing slope with large old Chestnut Oak and Red Oak forest. Rodney Bartgis considers this to be old growth. Little coarse woody debris, which could be due to fires 50 - 100 years ago. The stand is linear, occupying a band about 50 - 100m wide below the Tuscarora cliffs on Goshen Ridge. Fire scars with charcoal at base of large trees.
